Upcoming Sedona Fall Bhakti Retreat

Why the theme of Lakshmi & Diwali?

Lakshmi represents beauty, abundance, and the blossoming of the heart. Her energy reminds us that devotion can be joyful, creative, and deeply nourishing.

Diwali is known as the Festival of Light, a time when we honor the triumph of light over darkness and invite prosperity, harmony, and renewal into our lives. This year, Diwali is Nov. 6-11, exactly the dates of the retreat. We'll align with the collective celebration globally.

My intention is to offer a specific sadhana (daily practice) that you can practice and integrate on your own after the retreat. Our mornings and evenings, weโ€™ll gather in sacred practice, exploring Lakshmi mantras, rituals, and devotional teachings as we celebrate the sacred energy of Diwali together.

These practices invite us to welcome more harmony, gratitude, and inner radiance into our lives.

Hiking & What to Expect

Transformative Experiences in Sedona

Early November weather in Sedona is one of the most pleasant times of the year, with cool, crisp mornings and warm sunny afternoons. Daytime temperatures are typically in the 60sโ€“70sยฐF, making it ideal for hiking, while mornings and evenings can be cooler, so layering with a light jacket or sweater is recommended.

Sacred Canyon Hikes

As we walk through these stunning landscapes, weโ€™ll also take moments to reflect, connect with nature, and deepen into the spirit of devotion. Surrounded by the beauty of autumn in Sedona, these hikes invite us to experience the qualities Lakshmi represents, beauty, harmony, and appreciation for lifeโ€™s abundance.

What to Expect on the Trail

The hikes will be moderate with some elevation change (300โ€“700 feet). Most hikes will be 3โ€“5 miles and last 2โ€“3 hours, with a relaxed pace and plenty of time to enjoy the vibrant fall colors of Sedonaโ€™s maple trees.

Comfort & Accessibility

Trails include a mix of dirt paths and red rock terrain, so comfortable hiking shoes are recommended. Participants should feel comfortable hiking for a few hours on uneven trails. All hikes are optional, and there will always be time to rest and enjoy the peaceful retreat setting.

Why Ananda Das As Your Guide?

Ananda Das is a musician, yoga teacher, and founder of the Modern Bhakti Yoga Academy who loves helping people discover the joy, freedom, and power of their own voice. Whether through singing, kirtan, mantra, yoga, or meditation, his mission is simple: to help people experience a deeper connection to themselves, each other, and the Divine.

Since picking up the guitar in 2000, Ananda has been sharing music that invites people to sing from the heart rather than perform for perfection.

His workshops blend practical vocal training, musical skills, yogic wisdom, and devotional practices into an experience that is uplifting, transformational, and a whole lot of fun. Whether you're convinced you "can't sing" or you're an experienced musician, you'll leave feeling more confident, inspired, and connected.

For nearly two decades, Ananda has immersed himself in the path of yoga and bhakti, weaving ancient practices into an accessible, modern approach for today's spiritual seekers. His music has reached listeners around the world with more than 80 released tracks and over 3 million streams, while his live trainings and retreats continue to inspire students to find their own authentic expression.

In 2021, he founded the Modern Bhakti Yoga Academy, an international community offering immersive trainings, online courses, mentorship, and a membership dedicated to singing, kirtan, bhakti, and embodied spiritual practice. Through the Academy, he also mentors aspiring kirtan leaders and teachers, helping them develop not only their musical skills, but the confidence and presence to share from the heart.

Ananda has been teaching Kundalini Yoga since 2006 and completed his 300-hour certification in the Himalayan tradition of Sattva Yoga in 2020. Alongside years of dedicated study in mantra, meditation, philosophy, and devotional traditions, he holds a bachelor's degree in International and Sustainable Business with a minor in East Asian Religions.

Whether leading a festival crowd in joyful chant, guiding an intimate retreat, or coaching students one-on-one, Ananda's greatest passion is creating spaces where people can awaken their voice, open their hearts, and discover that devotion isn't something you perfectโ€”it's something you live.

โ€œBest training I've ever done! Truly encapsulated the meaning of embodiment with the flow from morning asana, to japa meditation, space and time to integrate, and rounded out with ritual and musical merriment. The depth of knowledge and skill Ananda Das has in sharing these teachings is priceless!โ€
